If you’re in a slump, you need to read this:
If you’re in a slump, you need to read this.
You’re ashamed of that thing you did.
You said you wouldn’t do it, but then you had to let your emotions win. Again.
Now you regret fiddling your trouser salami all by yourself.
You shouldn’t have ordered that salt-addled Uber trash.
All the crappy feelings are circling and reminding you of all the other shit you need to sort that you’re falling behind on.
You’re having dumb conversations with yourself about how you need to do this and do that and be more like this.
And it makes you feel even worse.
Maybe you’re depressed? Uncle Nathan said he’d had depression, so it could be something in the gene pool that worked its way to you.
You realise you’ve been arguing with yourself for the last twenty minutes.
But the last thing you want to do right now is get into your head.
Here are some other things you need to stop doing:
Feeling sorry for yourself.
Thinking about how much you’re thinking.
Listening to sad, mopey music.
Deciding to go on yet another holiday.
Watching Game of Thrones re-runs.
Taking your foot off the pedal.
The last point is particularly pertinent because it hints at your number one solution — right now — to get out of this slump:
You’re sad because you’re allowing your sad thoughts to dictate your reality.
When we decide to FUCK that and stand up, we’re imbued with a new kind of energy.
A FUCK THAT energy.
Now we’re talking.
This is the energy of movement, of warrior ownership, of pride.
You didn’t get out of bed this morning to submit to a scary reality.
You’re bigger than that.
I don’t give a shit about how bad things are for you right now.
You need to own everything you’ve done up until this point in your life.
You must decide to be OK with what you’ve done. You’re OK, and you’ll move forward with a glowing sense of urgency.
Life is short, in case you didn’t notice.
Don’t shorten it further by allowing yourself to decline like a soft little shrimp.
Your biggest priority right now is to move.
Do something. Anything.
Start by cleaning the kitchen floor.
Now wipe the bathroom mirror.
Momentum is a thing, and you can feel it running through your veins.
Now commit to more motion and more movement.
Empty calendars are for bored dweebs.
Hustle is back in.
Fill your day up, and be productive.
Better to be busy than depressed.
You are productive, not because of your personality, but because of your decisions.
You don’t feel your way around for motivation.
You create it.
Do so much with your day ahead that you forget you were ever sad.
You can do this.
I can see it in the spark in your eye.
