Most of our problems disappear with consistency
Untethered Mind Friday Short
A man built his cabin in a meadow in Sweden using only hand tools and wood from the nearby forest.
This might seem like a giant undertaking for a sole chap were it not for the beauty of consistency.
One nail at a time. Present with the wood and the birds.
And then he had a house.
Consistency holds up the illusion of genius. But do remarkable things truly require genius?
Some may, but often after lots of practice.
Really, it’s just you honouring your word that you’d start and do the middle bit and eventually finish before starting the next thing.
Day after day after day.
But how does consistency help reduce our problems?
Many of us struggle in a chaotic world because we bend to forces that take us away from old reliable: Consistency.
We have many good reasons to split ourselves thin. We once heard a guy writing about the power of consistency in an article somewhere. And we’d told ourselves we would do it. We would be consistent.
And then other things happened. We felt disappointment too many times to count.
We resisted the feeling of boredom.
And we turned away.
We let it slip down the ranks, and because of this, we haven’t strung much together that needed it.
Projects lie strewn, half-finished.
Incomplete rarely inspires.
Consistency inspires you. At least — it can if you allow it to. This means opening up to seeing things from creative new perspectives.
No one session is like the other.
Boredom is only an opinion, and continually driving the complaint only strengthens its perceived struggle.
. . .
What deserves another chance?
What needs a hundred days in a row?
How might this commitment be the start of something incredible for you?
Perhaps it isn’t more money, a clever framework, a brainy mentor, or an expensive course you need to solve your ills.
Maybe it isn’t a healthy injection of more intelligence.
Or a more positive disposition.
Or cool shoes.
Maybe the trick is to trust yourself and the process to return to it.
