Started forcing myself to go on walks without headphones in. I got used to having to multitask - walking and listening to a podcast or audible. Now it feels good just being completely in nature.

The sauna or a cold plunge.

I love to eat and eating is my favorite vessel to arriving in the moment- if done without distractions, as it engages many of your senses.

Sage advice, except if you suffer from tinnitus as I do. This high pitched whine, a constant squeal in my ears has plagued me for over 20 years now, and there is no cure. Except music. I cannot do ANYTHING without some sort of soft music playing. This, for me, has become my "silence."

So for anyone who has this same condition (and as I understand, it is quite common), soft instrumental music--no words, that's the key--can be your silence. It works for me.

Thanks for this thoughtful post.

sorry to hear that Frances! None of us are totally free of silence - we do what we can! White noise music is great too.

I've been sitting in silence this entire evening. Your creativity indeed flows at an increased level

So true. My class does a sound map where they have to sit in silence for just 3 minutes and listen to what is happening around there. They find this incredibly hard as they are so used to being distracted. Great piece.
